Thank you for your thoughtful review — and for giving your linen time to settle in. You’re absolutely right that authentic linen can shed quite a bit at first, especially during the first few washes. This is part of the natural process as the fabric releases shorter surface fibers and softens over time.
At Lilla and Charles, we use a natural enzyme wash rather than a more common process of stone washing. This method is gentler on the fibers and more environmentally friendly, but it also removes less surface material, which can mean a bit more linting initially. The upside is that our linen retains more of its natural body and strength — giving it a longer lifespan and a beautiful, weighty feel that continues to soften with use.
